Yuna Room Records

assalamualaikum.

starting from this week, i would choose a band and give them a review, ermm about their music, their album, and so on, weekly of course. coz i think this should be a good way too, to promote our local band (tu pon kalo ade oang bace blog aku la kan haha).

so our first lucky band is.....give it up to Yuna Room Records!!!

erm...actually Yuna is not a band, she's a solo singer...but, she usually perform on stage as a band- her guitarist, drummer and all are all dikidnap from other band yg mmg dh exist like seven collar tshirt and oh chentaku. so si Yuna ni gerak dlm band jgk la, it's juz that her band is actually not her's. err, u got me?

ok, few things bout her profile. name sebenar is Yunalis, she's from kuantan, currently in SJ, havent signing up to any record label, (i really think she should set up her own record label...but yeah, i guess money is the big issue here), released few demos (i think ade due..and both sold out in juz few weeks je. x sempat pon nk suh my friend grab one.darn), much influence by Bob Dylan, Sia, Alanis Morrisette, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Janis Joplin, Feist and Marketa Irglova.

her genre of music is basically Alternative/ Acoustic/ Folk Rock. i would say she sounds much like norah jones...but nicer and softer and somewhat...lazier. but it is the nice 'lazy' voice. hehe. she usually accepts offers to perform in any events, dinner...majlis nak grads ke, performance kat ur uni or college..gigs...mcm tu la.

her most popular song among malays i think would be Dan Sebenarnya, but Yuna actually composed more english songs than malay. her english songs yg famous are 'Deeper Conversation, After Midnite, Blue Sands' and many more. personally, i like these songs- titled Fix It, Greek Goddess, Rocket, and few songs that i dont even know what were the titles.

why did i chose her to be my first band of the week? simple. because she used to be my senior back in my secondary school and her mother used to be the chemistry teacher in my school. haha xde la. she might be my senior, but i chose her because of her smooth songs, her soothing voice and without a doubt, she is one promising talent. how i wish i could play guitar as good as her.

ok guyz, tak caye my review? check it out yourself then =)

Dae Jang Geum

assalamualaikum.

cuti, bosan, malas, sangap dan laen2. maka aku rasa aku bleh mengupdate blog ini dgn frequency yg tinggi.

i've been experimenting to mencantikkan my blog, seems like i have a problem with my shoutbox. it doesnt comes out so well, and i dont know how to fix it. blurgh. never mind.

ok. next review. the lucky chosen drama is Dae Jang Geum aka Jewel in the Palace.

u guys might found it weird, why i keep on reviewing old series and not the new one. the truth is, i like to korek2 all the old series that i havent watch yet. i dont know if it is just me, but i think the old series are good, compared to the recently published series. i mean, if u look at the quality of the series, the storyline, the values; the new series, be it korean or japanese, sucks a lot.

i remember the first drama that came out with the concept of 'bad hero' is the korean drama 'The Successful Story of a Bright Girl'. this series is really good, i enjoyed it very much. but after that, mule la kluar berduyun2 series yg ntah hape2, sume pon gune konsep 'hero sengal' ni. kalo sket2 xpe, tpi skng aku tgk, bleh dikatakan sume cite or movies korea pon sure nak wat hero die prangai cam bangang gak. mcm dh xde idea laen. lame........................

ok dh cukup dh merepek. so what's so special about Dae Jang Geum?

i would say that, this story is much of an inspiration for us women.

Jang Geum is a genius young woman, served as the palace girl in the royal kitchen. despite of all hardship, backstabbing and conspiracy, she survived and became one of the most outstanding palace girl when she won the cooking competition between her and her lifetime enemy, Madam Cui who killed her mother. however, she and her guardian, Madam Han were later on being punished severely and became government slaves as they fell into madam cui's trap to frame them. they were accused to involve in some rebellion attacks against the king and then was sent to cheju island. things became worst when madam han died along the journey and jang geum was left alone to become the slave for the cheju island's army troops.

in cheju island, she tried to escape many times but never succeed. in turns, she met the legendary physician, Lady Chang-Do who was the famous female doctor in cheju island. she had once served as the female doctor in the palace but was sent to cheju on her own request. chang-do was impressed by the intelligent jang geum and decided to take jang geum as her pupil. later on, the place was attacked by japanese army and jang geum was forced to cure the illness of the japanese general. because of this event, jang geum was again accussed for colloboration with the enemy, but was then saved by the internal affairs officer, Sir Min Jio Ho who knew the details of the japanese attack.

this event later on had gave jang geum the chance to sit for the exam of the female doctor recruitment. jang geum had passed the test and later on was appointed as the female doctor working at the royal hospital. it was not for so long until she finally met with madam cui again. madam cui and her subordinate, Gun Ying tried to get rid of her by any means but failed numerous times. jang geum had worked hard to expose their crime and finally, the truth was out. gun ying was forced to leave the palace while madam cui, repented on her wrongdoings and chose to commit suicide.

jang geum's achievements had been spectacular, when she had succeeded to discover the cause of the outbreak happened outside the city and save the life of the villagers, cure the illness of the prince, the empress, the queen and even succeded to cure the mystery disease of the king. the king had admire jang geum so much that he had finally fell in love with her. the empress kept on pressuring the king to take jang geum as his concubine, while jang geum and sir min jio ho were suffered as they had fell in love with each other. however, the king later on knew about their love-relationship and was willing to let go of jang geum. she was then being given the title 'The Great Jang Geum', the position of a third rank official in a 9-rank system (where the lowest-ranking official is the ninth-rank official), becoming part of the royal cabinet and was appointed to be the first female royal physician in history who personally treating the King.

i watched this series with much excitement and admiration. jang geum is definetely amazing; she is a good chief and a good doctor. and to make things more interesting, this is a true story, about a woman named jang geum who was the first woman being acknowledge for her talent and hardworks during the area of Joseon Dynasty. her name was recorded in history and she was the symbol of the greatness of womenhood.

so girls, watch this drama and be inspired. guys, watch the series too and maybe u could appreciate women more after this. haha.

p/s: checkout the soundtracks of this drama =)

Dirty

assalamualaikum.

no, this entry is not about christina aguilera's song. i'm talking about the dirty politics.

ahh, what had happened to malaysia nowadays? too many craps and bullshit!

there was this lad, saiful who swore by the Holy Book that he had been sodomized by Anwar Ibrahim. and here it is, another minister using the same method of swearing on the Holy Book to clear his name from altantuya case.

i read the news with disbelieve. this is a serious crime. it is an insult to islam and the holy book!

now, that's what i called an insult. for me, i dont give a damn about some pathetic ducthman went around promoting his 'fitnah' video (which is indeed, a fitnah. man, he sure chose the title well) but this swearing phenomenan, was initiated by a muslim, and then this trend was followed by another muslim, and who knows, if there would be another muslim who is stupid enough to repeat the same drama in future. i mean, heck, if u want to use the Holy Book to say that u'r not guilty, who need the courts and the judiciary system anymore? let's give all the criminals the Holy Book, make them swear by the name of God that they are not guity, and set them free.

RIDICULOUS!

this is so damn pathetic. using religion, the name of God and the Holy Book as political tools is simply unforgivable. this is an extreme insult. i cant tolerate this, not in a million years.

wallahualam.

of underground, nasyid and foreign language

assalamualaikum.

i just finished watching Dae Jang Geum aka Jewel in The Palace last week. i happened to like the ending song of this drama. the song is classic (classic in the korean way. wait, what am i saying? ok let's put it this way. it is somewhat traditional..like the 'canggung' or the 'makyong' but in korean version. something like that).

i dont know the title of the song, but the lyrics are superb. i think i read somewhere that this song is actually a poem. patut la, the lyrics are indeed beautifully composed.

i dont remember exactly all the lyrics, but it sounds something like this:

i dont know when was my love lady had gone

i dont know when was my love lady returned

i fly with the wind but i still cant find you

this shouldnt be happening

my love lady, if you're not coming back

please take me away with you...

there are a lot of good songs out there, whether in japanese, korean, chinese, english, france, russian or whatever.

hence, i dont understand why would some people saying something like, 'alah buat ape dengar lagu orang kafir ni. dengar nasyid lagi bagus.'

i understand that nasyid is good. full of messages and a way to preach to people. but, why does it MUST be nasyid?

is it wrong to hear other songs than nasyid? good song doesnt necessarily means it has to be nasyid, it has to be about theology, it has to be about God and all. a good song is GOOD, doesnt matter in what language or what genre. even an underground piece could be a good song as well. despite of all the 'jerit2' and 'terpekik terlolong'.

what's wrong with other song, which might not contained any word of 'Allah' or 'Rasul', but at the same time, it still has some good values in it?

people always use the same old reasoning, 'dengar lagu bukan nasyid ni lagho. melalaikan. buat kita lupa pada Allah.'

i would smile to myself when i heard that.

good song with good message would educate people with good advice. how would such song make us forget about Allah? why, because it is not from raihan or rabbani? because the instrument is not rebana or kompang but rather piano, drum and guitar?

how should a song being categorized? how should one set a standard to a song?

it is for sure an individual decision and perspective.

wallahualam.

p/s: i rather listen to kopratasa 'permata buat isteriku' rather than 'kasih kekasih' by inteam. it made me feel like throwing up. uwekkss.

Nodame Cantabille

assalamualaikum.

i am addicted to Nodame Cantabille now.

yeah, i know, this show is like, what, aired on NTV7 back in my secondary school. i didnt like this show on that time; i thought that it was too ridiculous, too 'anime-like', too overacting and exaggerating. but, well... i'm in my 2 weeks holiday now, i have nothing to do (actually, a LOT of things to do but i pretend that they dont exist for the mean time) so i just browsing up crunchyroll.com, caught my eyes on this drama and i think to myself, 'yeah, there's nothing wrong to layan a stupid drama during a holiday. i mean, who wants to use their brain watching CSI during holiday anyway?'

it turned out that this drama is, well... a little bit foolish like what i'm expecting, but it is really not too bad either... the storyline originated from an anime, so of course, this drama had a lot of tak logik scenes just like in the anime too (i dont understand why they did this. i mean, it is acceptable in anime, but in the show of REAL people... i found it rather stupid). the storyline might sounds tak logik too, (it is logic FOR ANIME only) but it is no doubt, interesting and i could say... unique.

noda megumi or 'nodame', is a very talented girl, or maybe extremely talented, a gifted pianist who could play a complicated piece such as schubert starting from the age of about only 10 years old. growing up, she knew how to read the music score but cant hardly follow it. the special thing is, she could played all the pieces simply by memorizing them by ears. it means that, she cant play the piece by reading the score, but rather listen to the piece, memorizing the sounds and playing the piece according to her memory. but because of this, her chords sounds rather sloppy and messy.

other weird things are, this girl doesnt like to take a bath, claiming herself as someone's wife and her room is like tempat pembuangan sampah. haha.

nodame is certainly a genius. this is the main point that captured my attention. she might be weird, immature, keanak-anakan and too innocent that make her looks stupid, but her talent is simply amazing. because of her personality, she could make the piece sounds pure and full of emotion.

ahh, how i wish i could be a genius who could memorize the whole engineering book without reading it. haha.

chow.

lawak hari ini

assalamualaikum

'kalau guna 'ana anta' baru la bunyi macam alim sikit.'

what??

ridiculous gile!

how would using the words 'ana' and 'anta' in your daily conversation suppose to make u sound 'alim'? for God sake, the words 'ana' and 'anta' simply means 'i' and 'you' in english! how in the world would those words make u sound 'alim'?

darn!

sekian.

p/s: lawak x?

tok pahe

assalamualaikum

aku meme tok pahe, ape kehe ngan melayu sekarang? bodoh sokmo.

wallahualam.
